AGUZADERAS CASTLE
We break the journey about half an hour out of Seville to visit this 12th century Moorish castle. Rebuilt by the Christians in the 14th century this eerie national monument is a testimony to the eight hundred year struggle for control of the Iberian peninsula.

ZAHARA DE LA SIERRA
The next stop is the visually stunning and historically important village, Zahara de la Sierra. Zahara is a town of quaint streets,friendly faces and ancient ruins. The views over the blue waters of the lake are breathtaking.

GRAZALEMA
This timeless village lends its name to the Natural Park and the mountain ranges where it is situated. The town is a favourite amoung people from the cities of Andalusia on long weekends and especially on the rare occasions it receives a sprinkle of snow. Most of the time, however, it just a sleepy mountain town that happens to be incredibly beautiful. It was home to prehistoric Iberian tribes, to the Romans and to the Arabs who were the main instigators of what was a thriving wool industry. Fine merino wool blankets and shawls are still sold at very reasonable prices in Grazalema.

SETENIL DE LAS BODEGAS
Setenil was the scene of seven different sieges by the troops of Isabel and Fernando against the Nazari Arabs. The amazing houses built into natural caves are a highlight of Setenil de las Bodegas

OLVERA
Olvera is a thriving service town for the rural comunities in the area. Its magnificent Arab castle and towering 18th Century church dominate the town and can be seen for miles around. The unusual chapel "Los Remedios" with a garden inside always surprises visitors.
